What is an Air Booster?

Air boosters take pre-compressed air from an existing network (your plant air system) or from a low-pressure compressor and increase it to the required higher pressure.

When & where is it applied?

When plant pressure isn’t enough, an air booster is often the best solution. Standard compressed air systems in industrial facilities are typically designed for pressures of 80 to 130 psig. When higher pressures are required it is very effective to use a portion of your plant air and apply an air booster to obtain the desired higher pressure.
Other methods of acquiring higher pressure air such as stand-alone air compressors, air amplifiers and increasing the pressure of the entire plant are more costly and less efficient. It simply takes more power to start from a standstill, while an air booster gets a running start because it receives pre-compressed air.

How does it work?

Think of an air booster as a second or third stage to your existing air compressor. An air booster connects into your plant air system via a receiver tank, piping and a discharge tank. These tanks are used to dampen pulsation created by the reciprocating movement of the booster and provide a small amount of storage capacity.
The Boosters are fitted with either battery or air start, stainless steel spark arrestors and overspeed protection. An emergency shutdown system is also fitted to all models, enabling instant shutdown from the drill floor in the event of gas detection or similar hazard.
The unit is constructed in a four point lifting frame, designed to meet the rigours of high pressure operations in the air drilling, underbalanced drilling (UBD), LNG construction and pipeline sectors.
Our simple and modular design is unique in our size range providing flexibility and ease of maintenance. Our adaptability allows us to manufacture a compressor that fits your specific needs from our stock supply of standard frames, cylinders and heads.
The combinations of inlet pressure, discharge pressure and required flows are nearly limitless. We encourage you to contact us for assistance in sizing the proper air booster for your application.

Why Booster Air Compressor?

A booster compressor might be the perfect answer to your facility’s needs because it provides a way to increase the pressure of air within your system without the need for purchasing expensive new equipment. If you’re planning to use your system for special applications that require high pressures, which can range from printing to leak detection, there is perhaps no more economical way to upgrade your facilities to meet your demands.

Geothermal Drillng

Geothermal Energy is the energy stored as heat in the earth. The energy is accessed by drilling water or steam wells deep into the earth.
Extremely deep wells can be drilled to extract steam or hot water that is circulating amongst the sub surface rocks, or by pumping cold water into the hot rocks and returning the heated water to the surface, to drive steam turbines to produce electricity

Exploration Drilling

Booster compressors are used to raise input air pressure to increase drilling speed and depth.
Using one or more feed compressor typically the booster will increase pressure at a 3:1 ratio – for example 350psi in 1000psi out with no change in air volume.
High pressure compressed air is used to drive the RC hammer and clear the cuttings from the hole and allow for dryer more precise samples in the presence of water and moisture.

Pipeline Services

The most common need for Booster services on oil and gas pipelines are pressure testing, De-watering, purging, cleaning, drying and corrosion inspections. With the worldwide demand for cleaner energy the importance of maintained gas pipelines is key.

Booster Air Compressor for Water well drillng

Water Well Drilling

Wells can vary greatly in depth, water volume, and water quality. Drilled wells are typically created using either top-head rotary style, table rotary, or cable tool drilling machines, all of which use drilling stems that are turned to create a cutting action in the formation, hence the term drilling.
